Victim identified in May 1 motorcycle crash

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The El Paso County Coroner’s Office has identified the victim of a fatal crash involving a vehicle and a motorcycle that happened at the beginning of May as 30-year-old Ethan Hale.

The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) said on Thursday, May 1, at around 4:30 p.m., officers were called to the intersection of I-25 and West Bijou Street about a crash between a vehicle and a motorcycle. Members of the Colorado Springs Fire Department (CSFD) and AMR provided medical care to all involved, and three people were taken to the hospital with injuries ranging from moderate to life-threatening.

Upon arrival at the hospital, the driver of the motorcycle, later identified as Hale, succumbed to their injuries.

Police investigated the crash and said it was determined the vehicle was traveling east on Bijou Street and was prepared to make a left turn to go north on I-25. The motorcycle was traveling west on West Bijou Street in the left through lane. As the motorcycle approached the intersection, the vehicle started to make a left turn. The motorcycle entered the intersection, hitting the right side of the vehicle, ejecting both the driver and passenger of the motorcycle.
