(FREEMONT COUNTY, Colo.) — We are the Royal Gorge Region, where there is no shortage of unique stays and fun activities. Whether you’re there for a day or a few, the people of that area have got you covered.

One locally owned tourism business, called Royal Gorge Epic Adventures, is actually more like several businesses rolled into one. It’s owned and operated by Cañon City native Ty Seufer.

“20 years ago, me and my partner Jimmy Whiteside started Royal Gorge Rafting, and we just had the rafting company first,” said Seufer. “So, we just slowly grew. Every year we’d buy something new, would add something new.”

Aside from the white water rafting, they now boast zipline tours, restaurants, “glamping” (also known as glamorous camping) and more.

“We have 13 different yurts here that sleep four people each. We have six different airstreams,” said Seufer. “So, it’s crazy cool.”

If you’re unfamiliar with the term, his yurts are essentially two-story circular tents with a more permanent and luxurious feel.

“There’s a queen (bed) downstairs, and then there’s a cute little loft for your kids (or) two upstairs,” said Seufer. “They all come with their own private cooking area, and your own barbecue grill, your own gazebo, your own furniture, and everything.”

You can even rent what they call “MAGA yurts”, made complete with a red, white and blue theme.

“We have some great trails right on the property. Super cool Point Alta Vista Trail that leads all the way out to the river overlook on the road up that goes to the Royal Gorge Bridge. (We) Have a beautiful hike here that loops around this whole mountaintop here,” said Seufer.

Although it’s not recommended you swim at their riverside beach, their remote location, along with the mountain views, brings that peaceful vacation feel.

“Just great, affordable vacation right here in Southern Colorado. We are 45 minutes from Colorado Springs. We’re an hour and a half from Denver. So come on down,” said Seufer.
