(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The United States Air Force Academy (USAFA) class of 2024 is graduating on Thursday, May 30 at Falcon Stadium on the Academy, and to celebrate the graduation the USAFA Thunderbirds will provide an aerial demonstration.
On Wednesday, May 29 the Thunderbirds will be practicing for the show. There will be two practice sessions: the hat toss/run-in flight over Falcon Stadium from 10 a.m. to noon, and the air show practice from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Extensive road closures and traffic detours are planned on the Academy while the Thunderbirds are flying. And, for the sake of safety, drivers should not stop along I-25 or Academy roads to watch the Thunderbirds. Everyone should expect heavy traffic, road closures, and event detours on May 29 and 30.
Bicycles are also prohibited on Academy grounds both days, from 5 a.m. to 4 p.m.
