Woodland Park PD: Help identify man linked to fanny pack theft and fraudulent charges

(WOODLAND PARK, Colo.) — The Woodland Park Police Department (WPPD) is asking for the community’s help in finding a suspect who allegedly picked up a lost “fanny pack” style bag from a parking lot before suspicious fraudulent charges showed up on the victim’s account on Monday, April 21.

According to WPPD, around 10:15 a.m., a person dropped the fanny pack in the Walmart parking lot at 19600 Highway 24, on the south side of Woodland Park. The pack contained a driver’s license, bank card, credit card, and other items.

WPPD reported that around two minutes after the bag was dropped, surveillance cameras captured an unidentified man who picked up the bag from the parking lot and walked inside Walmart, across the front of the store, and into the bathroom. When he exited, he no longer had the pack in his hand.

According to WPPD, later in the day, the victim began receiving fraud alerts from their bank, reporting suspicious activity.
