YMCA hosts ribbon cutting at new athletic facility

(PUEBLO, Colo.) — On Wednesday, May 28, the YMCA of Pueblo hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony for a new, state-of-the-art athletic facility that will enhance youth sports and community wellness.

The community joined YMCA leaders and families on Wednesday at the new facility on East Spaulding Avenue to celebrate the unveiling of the facility, which is named in honor of Dr. Bruno DeRose. According to the YMCA, Dr. DeRose was a lifelong champion of youth development and equitable access to physical activity.

“This is more than just a field,” said Janelle Andrews, President/CEO of the YMCA of Pueblo. “It’s a bold step forward in addressing the critical need for safe, accessible, and inclusive recreation spaces in our community. It’s a place where thousands of young people will find belonging, mentorship, and the confidence that comes from sports and teamwork.”
