29th Annual Empty Bowls event fights hunger in Pueblo

(PUEBLO, Colo.) — The annual Empty Bowls event will be held on Friday, Dec. 6 to fight hunger in the community.

Organized by the teachers and students at the Pueblo School for Arts and Sciences (PSAS), the Empty Bowls event highlights the power of art and community engagement in combating hunger.

Every PSAS student creates a unique, handmade bowl for the occasion, which will be available for a $10 donation. Attendees can select a handmade bowl of their choice and enjoy a warm serving of soup, provided by local restaurants and businesses, alongside bread or rolls.

In addition to the meal, there will be a silent auction where families can bid on an array of items generously donated by community members. All proceeds from the event will go directly to local agencies working to address hunger and homelessness, including Posada, the Pueblo Community Soup Kitchen, and the Wayside Cross Gospel Rescue Mission.

The Empty Bowls event will take place on Friday at the Sangre de Cristo Arts and Conference Center, with lunch served from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and dinner from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

PSAS invites local restaurants, businesses, and individuals to contribute to this cause by donating prepared soups (2 or more gallons), rolls or breadsticks (4-5 dozen), desserts, or items for the silent auction.
