(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) has identified the motorcyclist who was killed in a crash earlier in May.
On Monday, May 12, at around 5 p.m., officers with CSPD and members of the Colorado Springs Fire Department were dispatched to a single-vehicle dirt bike crash in the 1000 block of Florence Avenue, near Highway 115 and Lake Avenue.
Medical personnel rendered aid and transported the biker to the hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. The Major Crash Team responded and took over the investigation. Initial information based on video and witness statements indicated that speed was likely a factor in the crash.
The El Paso County Coroner’s Office identified the motorcyclist as 36-year-old Kaylon Thomas.
This is the 11th traffic fatality in Colorado Springs this year.
