Here’s what it takes to be a Denver Broncos cheerleader

DENVER (KDVR) — The Denver Broncos are holding auditions for new cheerleaders ahead of the 2024 season, so do you have what it takes?

If your answer is “yes,” you may want to hear what the requirements are before filming your audition and sending in your application.


Will the Broncos use the franchise tag?

The cheerleaders are staples at Broncos games and other team events and have been since being brought back in 1993.

The requirements include:

10 or more years of extensive experience in several forms of dance such as ballet, jazz, hip-hop and tap, as well as the ability to quickly learn choreographed routines

Football knowledge

Ability to learn social media skills and manage individual Denver Broncos Cheerleader accounts

Additionally, it is preferred that the applicants have a bachelor’s degree or are working towards one.

The position is expected to pay $21.50 an hour, or roughly $44,720 if there are 40 hours worked per week. That is just over 50% of the area median income in both Denver and Arapahoe County, where the job is located.

Those who do make the team are required to attend rehearsals two to three times a week for three to four hours, in addition to attending events both inside and outside of game days.

According to the team website, more than 200 women auditioned for the 28 open spots in 2023.

To prepare, people can purchase prep materials. There is a virtual prep pack for $100, as well as in-person prep classes for $30 each or $300 for the series. There are also virtual classes for $10 each or $100 for the series.

Applications are open until April 5, and the virtual preliminary round will take place on April 13.
