(DURANGO, Colo.) — The Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad (D&SNGRR), one of the gems of Southern Colorado, has been named “Best Scenic Train Ride in America” by USA Today 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards.
The 143-year-old railroad travels from Durango to Silverton through beautiful scenic wilderness while providing a variety of drink and dining experiences for its passengers while they enjoy epic views and a relaxing ride.
The Denver and Rio Grande Railroad was originally established in Durango in 1881 as a supply line to miners working in the San Juan Mining District. Since that time, the railway has been supplying passengers with a delightful journey through the San Juan Mountains.
“We are honored to be recognized as the Best Scenic Train Ride in America by USA Today readers,” said John Harper, General Manager and COO of American Heritage Railways. “The award is a testament to our dedicated team and the timeless history, adventure, and natural beauty that our railroad offers.”
