Stolen truck from Castle Rock found crashed into business

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) said a stolen vehicle from Castle Rock was found crashed into the front doors of a Colorado Springs business during the overnight hours of Thursday, Aug. 1.

CSPD said on Thursday, at around 12:30 a.m. a CSPD Corporal saw a white Ford F350 crashed into the front doors of a business in the 1600 block of South Tejon Street. Other officers responded to the area and set up a block of the truck.

When police tried to contact the driver, they say he ignored officers’ commands and tried to reverse before hitting two police vehicles.

The driver, later identified as 42-year-old Matthew Jenkins, ultimately surrendered to police after officers deployed an irritant. Police learned the truck was stolen out of Castle Rock and also located a handgun and 24 fentanyl pills inside.

FOX21 confirmed the business impacted was Bicycle Experience, which will remain open to the public.
