CSPD arrests five during auto theft deployment

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) performed a Beat Auto Theft Through Law Enforcement (BATTLE) deployment on Jan. 31 and arrested five in connection to stolen vehicles.

On Friday, CSPD, along with the Colorado State Parole, and the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office arrested five people during the deployment, including 28-year-old Ashley Ikener-Contratto, 30-year-old Edward Ruiz, 27-year-old Dakota Mayer, 23-year-old Mykel Lala and 59-year-old Craig Doty.

During the deployment, seven stolen cars were recovered. One of the recoveries was for a family who is expecting their first baby. Detectives were able to locate and return the vehicle to the family, which included all their baby supplies.
