A wet week: how much did we get?

(SOUTHERN COLORADO) – Early last week I spent my “weather time” on tv telling you that this would be our main monsoon push of the summer. We’ve got a couple more days to go, but it’s been a really good week for water!

NWS – River Forecast Center – Observed Precipitation Last Seven Days

Many different estimates of observed precipitation are used in the river forecast process. Sources include rain gauge networks (both official and volunteer) as well as radar estimates. The precipitation map is interactive with zoom in features and the ability to change the length of time of the precip. totals.

CoCoRaHS – Community Collaborative Rain, Hail, and Snow Network

CoCoRaHS is a unique, non-profit, community-based network of volunteers of all ages and backgrounds working together to measure and map precipitation (rain, hail and snow). By using low-cost measurement tools, stressing training and education, and utilizing an interactive Web-site, our aim is to provide the highest quality data for natural resource, education and research applications.

The CoCoRaHS map contains the ability to zoom in to street level, query the data, and select a date range. This will allow you to check out this last week of active weather. Here’s a highlight from our area from the last seven days.

We’ve got the totals from the last 24 hours from CoCoRahs in our weather section on our rain and snow totals page.
