Agreement reached to keep Lake Pueblo marina open temporarily

(PUEBLO COUNTY, Colo.) — Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) and The O’Neil Group have reached a temporary agreement to keep the North Shore Marina at Lake Pueblo State Park open through the remainder of the 2025 boating season, according to CPW.

On Wednesday, March 12, CPW announced that the North Shore Marina would close on April 1 because the lease with the O’Neil Group had expired. Extensive repair work is needed on the marina, and after an in-depth evaluation, it was determined that the repairs would make it cost-prohibitive.

“We’re looking forward to providing a safe and enjoyable experience for all who visit Lake Pueblo State Park,” said Lake Pueblo State Park Manager Joe Stadterman. “We’ve been listening to concerns from the public and appreciate the feedback we’ve received. The agreement will allow for public access to the North Shore Marina amenities at the park this summer while we work on a longer-term agreement.”

Lake Pueblo State Park is one of Colorado’s iconic state parks, attracting 2,992,177 visitors in 2024 from across Colorado and the country to safely boat, swim, camp and more. CPW said it will continue to communicate the long-term plans for the marina.

“We are thrilled to have the opportunity to continue our collaboration with Lake Pueblo State Park for another summer and fall boating season,” said Kevin O’Neil, owner of The O’Neil Group. “This decision will further strengthen our relationship with CPW as we continue to provide marina services while working diligently to explore the construction of a new marina.”
