At home massage tips from Massage Heights

(COLORADO SPRINGS) —Valentine’s Day can be stressful, so FOX21 Morning News asked the experts from Massage Heights in Colorado Springs to come teach some at-home massage tips. Rueben Rodriguez, massage therapist, and Barbara Shoptaugh, owner of Massage Heights at the Dublin Commons and Briargate locations were happy to help and show Abbie Burke, Craig Coffey, and Matt Meister how it’s done.

Rodriguez said the number one complaint he hears from people attempting to give massages is that their hands get tired. “So we don’t do that,” he said. “We use our elbows, fists, things like that.”

Rodriguez said novices should avoid the spine and stay on the soft tissue. Injury is possible so make sure you and your partner have good communication. “You want to say ‘Is the pressure okay? Do you want more or less?'”
