Back-to-school: Salvation Army hosts shopping spree, seeks donations

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Salvation Army is joining forces with JCPenney’s (JCP) for Back-to-School shopping on Saturday, Aug. 3.

The Salvation Army El Paso County and JCP at the Citadel Mall are providing $100 gift cards to children in need to buy new clothes to help them feel confident getting back to the classroom. JCP is offering these families discounts to help their gift card stretch.

Every year, the Salvation Army relies on the community to sponsor these children. Parents get to shop with their kiddos, providing a bonding opportunity with their children that many of these working parents have never had.

Currently, the Salvation Army is at 77% of its $20,000 goal. Some children are still in need of a sponsorship for the annual Back to School Shopping Spree.
