Baptist Road temporary closure June 6, open house June 11

(MONUMENT, Colo.) — The Colorado Department of Transportation and Native Sun Construction will temporarily close access on eastbound Baptist Road on Thursday, June 6.

Access will be closed on eastbound Baptist Road from the Woodcarver Roundabout to Terrazzo Drive. Work on Thursday will begin at 6 p.m. and end at 2 a.m.

Work will include the installation of temporary striping at the intersection of Baptist Road and Terrazzo Drive for the beginning of roundabout construction that began on Monday, June 3.

Motorists in the area can expect detours in place. To get from Quik Trip and Pilot Travel Center from Baptist Road, drivers will have to travel to the roundabout at Woodcarver Road, west of the Baptist and Terrazzo intersection, then head south on Woodcarver Road, east on Squadron Drive, and north on Terrazzo. If exiting, traffic traveling east to I-25 Interchange will exit as normal. Traffic traveling west will need to go south on Terrazzo Drive, west on Squadron Drive, and North on Woodcarver Road.

Those who want to access the Valero from the I-25 Interchange will not be detoured. Traffic exiting Valero traveling back to I-25 will need to make a right turn on Baptist Road and travel west to the roundabout at Woodcarver Road and Baptist Road. From there, motorists can travel north on Old Denver Road to the Colorado Highway 105 Interchange with I-25, or south on Woodcarver Road, east of Squadron Drive, north on Terrazzo Drive, and east on Baptist Road to access the I-25 Interchange with Baptist Road.

Westbound Baptist Road will remain open at this intersection throughout the eastbound street closure.

For the project, working hours will be Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on construction occurring at Baptist Road and Terrazzo Drive in all directions. Working hours will be Sunday through Thursday from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. when a single-lane, alternating traffic pattern is needed to complete work.

On Tuesday, June 1, CDOT and Native Sun Construction will host an informational community open house on Tuesday, June 11 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Tri-Lakes Chamber of Commerce located at 166 2nd Street in Monument.

The open house will be an opportunity for the community to ask questions regarding the project, construction phases, and logistics of traffic.

Work is expected to be completed in Late October.
