(COLORADO SPRINGS) — Colorado Springs Utilities (Springs Utilities) is offering a limited opportunity to own a piece of Colorado Springs history while making a difference for families who struggle to afford their utility bills.
200 commemorative bricks from the Martin Drake Power Plant are being sold for $109.50 each, with $100 going to Project COPE, and $9.50 paying for the auction house service fee.
The Martin Drake Power Plant was built in 1925 and provided energy to the city, supporting growth and attracting new residents and businesses, for nearly a century. The plant provided jobs to generations of employees until its closure on Sept. 1, 2022.
