(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) reported that an officer in their cruiser was hit by another driver on Saturday, Feb. 22 while responding to another call on the south side of Colorado Springs.
According to CSPD, the officer was traveling northbound on South Academy Boulevard, approaching Drennan Road, while responding to an in-progress disturbance involving a weapon. As the officer entered the intersection with lights flashing, another vehicle traveling eastbound on Drennan collided with the officer.
The other driver reported no injuries and the officer was taken to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries, according to CSPD. There was no suspected intoxication. The intersection of South Academy and Drennan was closed temporarily while detectives processed the scene.
