(COLORADO SPRINGS) — A victim of theft found their stolen tires and rims, worth nearly $10,000, for sale on Facebook Marketplace, leading to an arrest of a suspect in possession of illegal drugs and the recovery of multiple stolen vehicles on Saturday, Feb. 22, according to the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD).
CSPD reported that on Friday, Feb. 20, tires and rims were stolen from a new Ford Bronco at Phil Long Ford on Briargate Boulevard. The victim later found the stolen tires posted for sale on Facebook Marketplace and reported it to the police.
On Saturday, Feb. 22, detectives and officers found and arrested one of the suspects who, according to CSPD, was found in possession of fentanyl and methamphetamines. Police also discovered multiple stolen vehicles, one from Aurora, one from Colorado Springs, and two stolen trailers from Fountain. The tires and rims were not found.
CSPD believes that the suspect sold the tires on Saturday to an unknown person in the local area who is also considered a victim in the case. Detectives are trying to track down the tires and rims so they can be returned to the original owner. If anyone has information about the location of the tires and rims, they are asked to contact CSPD at (719) 444-7000.
