(CAÑON CITY, Colo.) — The Cañon City Police Department (CCPD) said officers located a stolen vehicle and arrested the alleged thief during a routine patrol on Thursday, Feb. 20.

According to CCPD, on Thursday while on routine patrol, officers found a stolen vehicle from Salida. The vehicle was parked and unoccupied, so in partnership with detectives, CCPD watched the vehicle in an effort to find the suspect.

Later on Thursday, police saw a man, identified as 44-year-old Christopher Michael Gray from Salida enter the vehicle and drive away. Police initiated a pre-planned traffic stop and arrested Gray for the alleged theft of the vehicle.

The vehicle was returned to its rightful owner.
