Car Seats Colorado host training for child safety in cars

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — Car Seats Colorado will be hosting a training meant to provide education on standardized child safety in cars, starting Monday, Feb. 24.

The training provides education on crash dynamics, injury prevention strategies, child restraint selection and installation, and vehicle occupant protection systems. The three-day course is taught through a combination of lectures, hands-on practice, written quizzes, and hands-on skills assessments.

The course will provide participants with skills to:

Educate others about Child Passenger Safety issues including misuse of car seats and booster seats.

Serve as a local resource at community events by providing car seat inspections and education.

Reduce potential liability through standardization and certification.

Individuals must be in attendance for the entire course and successfully pass all assessments to become certified.

Anyone wanting to make sure children are transported safely is invited to come. Registration and fees include a $95 National certification fee payable to Safe Kids.

The class will be held starting Monday, Feb. 24 through Feb. 27 at the Colorado State Patrol/Colorado Department of Transportation Training Room at 1480 Quail Lake Loop near East Cheyenne Mountain Boulevard.
