Career advice: Ent Credit Union’s guidance for job seekers

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — Whether you’re a new graduate or you’ve been on the job for a while and have decided it’s time for a career change, there are a lot of things to consider when looking for a place of employment.

Bree Shellito, Senior Manager of Community Impact at Ent Credit Union, joined FOX21 Morning News on Thursday, June 6, and offered some advice. She said to look beyond the salary and consider total compensation. “So not just the dollar figure that’s offered per hour, that’s important, of course, that’s important, but what else is being offered? What are the benefits? Some companies are offering some very unique benefits,” Shellito said.

Jobs can also cost employees money, so Shellito said to watch out for and weigh all job costs from wardrobe to transportation, child care, and more. “What are the costs that you pay today and the things that you do today that you wouldn’t otherwise do if you didn’t have that job?” Shellito said.

Other things to consider:

Financial and personal balance

Aligning values; including financial goals with personal priorities

Time management; Discover strategies to manage your time effectively, ensuring you can build your career while prioritizing personal fulfillment, avoiding burnout, and achieving work-life balance
