(LEADVILLE, Colo.) — Two minors are in custody after an apparent shooting in Leadville that injured a boy earlier this week.
Around 12 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 11, the Lake County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) responded to reports of a shooting at 19773 Highway 24 in Leadville. When deputies arrived, a boy told them that he was confronted by two other minors and was shot once in the arm.
The victim was taken to a hospital where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries and released.
A short time later, Lake County Sheriff’s deputies arrested two minors without incident. According to the Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI), the two boys are from the Leadville/Lake County area and are facing charges of Attempted First-Degree Murder.
CBI has been requested to take the lead on the following investigation, with LCSO assisting.
“There is no ongoing threat to the community. Due to the involvement of juveniles and the active nature of the investigation, no additional information will be released at this time,” CBI said in an official release.
LCSO and the CBI request that anyone with information about this incident call the Lake County Emergency Communication Center at (719) 486-1249.
