(CHAFFEE COUNTY, Colo.) — The Chaffee County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) is warning the community of a series of scam calls that are using the names and titles of Sheriff’s Office employees.
CCSO said its office had recently gotten reports from the community of people representing themselves as CCSO employees asking for money for fines, bail, and more. The callers are using the actual names and titles of employees from the Sheriff’s Office.
The Sheriff’s Office said it will never call you and ask for funds over the phone. CCSO advises the public to use caution and hang up on callers when they start asking for money.
If you do get a call of this nature, you are asked to contact CCSO’s dispatch center at (719) 539-2596 and report them or check on the validity of the call you received.
