(PUEBLO, Colo.)– Hundreds of people gathered in Pueblo this weekend to catch a glimpse of the high-flying acrobatics of Cirque Italia—the event showcased talented performers from the world.
The huge white tent popped up in the Pueblo mall parking lot, to offer a thrill of entertainment in the Steel City for friends and families to enjoy. It’s the largest traveling circus in the United States featuring a water stage, making their shows unique.
“Circus! circus, circus!” shouted one little boy jumping up and down out of excitement.
Another little girl said her favorite part of the show was when they performers took to the ceiling, swinging around the stage holding onto nothing but what looked like a cloth hanging from the stage.
The show also featured designed elements like the water stage, traveling from city to city. Cirque Italia showcases three different shows Silver Unit, Gold Unit, and Platnum Unit all above a stage that holds thirty-three thousand gallons of water that the performs.
“Cirque Italia is thrilled to present “Metropolis,” it’s a city-themed water circus, it’s about our clown Raphael, a farmer boy who ends up in a big city and meets people from all walks of life,” said Marjorie Rosenthal, a spokesperson for Cirque Italia.
She says the act consists of around fifty performers, of who were professional gymnasts and decided to continue their careers by joining the circus.
“They’ve been super excited and it’s been nonstop cheering and screaming. They want to dance, they want to clap, they want to chant, shout out to them and everything, so it’s been fun,” said Angeloic Naputi.

In addition to their water stage, they are different from a traditional circus because they do not include animals.
“Oh, yeah, it’s a great time, I got to bring the little ones out. We’re having a lot of family fun today, so it’s a nice little experience. Never been to the circus before today,” said Naputi.
They say the giant tent takes a day to set up in each city. The show is two hours long for some kids and families they said they want even more!
