(COLORADO SPRINGS) — Cheyenne Mountain Zoo (CMZoo) is giving individuals the opportunity of a lifetime, and all they have to do is give them a guess on how much Akta’s antlers weigh.
CMZoo announced on Sunday, Feb. 16 that four-year-old Alaska moose Akta had lost his antlers a week prior. The zoo said this is his fourth set, and explained that most male moose lose their antlers each winter or spring.
Akta will be sporting the ‘antler-free’ look for a few months.
Now, CMZoo is asking individuals to guess how much Atka’s antlers weigh for a chance to meet Akta up close. Individuals will have a chance to meet Akta in person or virtually in a personalized video.

Visit cmzoo.org/antlers to enter your guess for the combined weight of both of Akta’s antlers. Only one guess per unique email.
Guesses are due Tuesday, Feb. 18 at 11:59 p.m. MT.
The official weight will be announced on CMZoo’s social media on Wednesday, and the winner will be notified by email on Thursday, Feb. 20. A winner has 48 hours to accept their prize via email if they do not respond within 48 hours, CMZoo will select another winner.
The winner will then have until Sunday, June 1 to redeem the close encounter with Moose.
