DENVER (KDVR) — A person from Colorado was indicted for their alleged involvement with online groups that paid a minor in Indonesia to create videos of monkey torture and mutilation.
The U.S. Department of Justice announced that the indictment was unsealed on Friday, charging 11 people from across the U.S. for their involvement, including a Coloradan identified as Carter G. Fawcett.
The 11 included in the indictment are accused of conspiring with Nicholas T. Dryden, of Cincinnati, to create and distribute “animal crush videos” which depict “acts of extreme violence and sexual abuse against monkeys,” the DOJ said.
According to the DOJ, the indictment includes 79 instances where the 11 indictees allegedly paid Dryden, who then paid a minor in Indonesia to commit requested acts on camera.
Last summer, Dryden was charged alongside Giancarlo Morelli, of New Jersey, for their involvement with the groups. In January, the DOJ said Morelli pleaded guilty in federal court for conspiring with others to “create and distribute videos depicting acts of sadistic violence against baby and adult monkeys.”
The department said the defendants face a maximum of five years in prison if convicted as charged.
