DENVER (KDVR) — The Denver Nuggets are on the road for Game 2 of the Western Conference Semifinals against the Oklahoma City Thunder, but for Coloradans, it may be harder to grab tickets to Wednesday night’s game.
The Nuggets defeated the Los Angeles Clippers after seven games of back-and-forth wins. Now, Denver is heading into Game 2 in the conference semifinals against the Thunder following a massive comeback win for the Nuggets on Monday night.
Game 2 is in Oklahoma City, but it could be harder for some Nuggets fans to get to the game, and it’s not just because of the almost 10-hour drive. The Oklahoma City Thunder are only selling tickets on Ticketmaster to people who live in Oklahoma, Kansas, Arkansas, Missouri and Nebraska.
On Ticketmaster’s site for Game 2 at Paycom Center, a message reads:
“***VERY IMPORTANT***! All sales to this event will be restricted to residents of Oklahoma, Kansas, Arkansas, Missouri, and Nebraska. Residency will be based on credit card billing address. Orders by residents outside Oklahoma, Kansas, Arkansas, Missouri, and Nebraska will be canceled without notice and refunds given,” Ticketmaster said.
Ticketmaster said the team handles its ticketing. Meanwhile, the Thunder told FOX31 that the team is limiting the tickets because there are only hundreds of tickets available after season ticket members buy their tickets before they’re on sale to the public.
“To optimize ticket opportunities for Thunder fans and to mitigate the impact of ticket brokers and bots, we target Oklahoma and the designated NBA broadcast area,” a Thunder spokesperson said.
The spokesperson said this is a common practice for many events across the country.
While people with a Colorado billing address won’t be able to buy tickets from Ticketmaster for Wednesday night’s game, other ticket sites don’t have the same policy if you’re still planning on making the trek to Oklahoma City.
Sites like Vivid Seats, SeatGeek and StubHub are selling tickets to Paycom Center for as low as $84. The drive is almost 10 hours to Oklahoma City, while the nonstop flight is almost two hours. If you’re looking to watch the Nuggets’ Game 2 live, there’s still time.
