Colorado Lottery reports record sales in Fiscal Year 2024

(PUEBLO, Colo.) — The Colorado Lottery is reporting the fourth consecutive year of record sales for Fiscal Year 2024, reaching $900,756,363.

“Our goal to become a $1 billion lottery is in our sight with this year’s tremendous revenue success,” said Tom Seaver, Director of the Colorado Lottery, “and we’ll soon surpass the $200 million mark for our proceeds partners that support our state’s parks, recreation, open space, and wildlife preservation projects. As our revenue grows, so does our responsibility. Our new player health manager will help us ensure that we grow responsibly with our players’ health at the forefront.”

Colorado Lottery said a year of record-setting jackpots, two Mega Millions and one Powerball that exceeded $1 billion drove a significant boost in sales, $312 million across all jackpot games.

The Lottery’s Scratch products are the largest revenue generator, with sales of $588 million in FY24, according to Colorado Lottery.

Of every dollar spent on Lottery games, 65 cents goes back to winners and about 22 cents goes towards beneficiaries. Colorado Lottery said $194.4 million was raised for its beneficiaries in FY24. Great Outdoors Colorado (GOCO) reached its funding cap in April, getting more than $81.7 million. The Conservation Trust Fund (CTF) will get more than $78.5 million. Colorado Parks and Wildlife is set to get $19.6 million, plus more than $2.6 million for each of its Parks/Outdoors Recreation and Wildlife Cash Funds.

Building Excellent Schools Today’s spillover revenue from the Colorado Lottery is more than $8.2 million and the Outdoor Equity Fund will get its full allocation of $3 million.

Colorado Lottery said other factors to the record sales include new vending machines, retailer recruitment, and predictive ordering for Scratch games in 2024.
