(COLORADO) — The Colorado Education Initiative (CEI) worked with over 100 stakeholders from across Colorado to create a roadmap for the use of Artificial intelligence in K-12 education.
According to CEI, the roadmap hopes to guide local school districts and state-level organizations in integrating artificial intelligence into teaching and learning while also working to have the technology used in a thoughtful and responsible manner.
“This roadmap represents the collective insights and expertise of educators, policymakers, industry leaders, community members, and students,” said Colorado Commissioner of Education Susana Córdova. “It underscores our dedication to ensuring that every student in Colorado has access to high-quality, equitable education and is equipped with the skills necessary to not just work but lead and thrive in an ever-evolving world.”
The roadmap includes the potential for reshaping teaching and learning, advancing equitable access for all learners, developing police for transparent and ethical use, and a statewide call to action for statewide organizations.
The roadmap also addresses challenges with AI such as data privacy, and bias, and suggests policies for acceptable use.
“AI is one of the next great frontiers, and Colorado has always been at the forefront of educational innovation,” said Rebecca Holmes, President and CEO of CEI. “CEI is excited to continue learning with and from school and district leaders in shaping how we leverage AI to improve educational systems, enhance the teaching profession, and ensure Colorado’s young people exit K-12 education boldly taking their next steps toward hopeful, equitable, and prosperous futures regardless of their zip code.”
The full roadmap can be read on CEI’s website.
