Colorado State Fair offers over $250,000 in free entertainment

(PUEBLO, Colo.) — Did you know that the Colorado State Fair, running in Pueblo through Labor Day, offers over $250,000 in free entertainment? On Wednesday, Aug. 27, FOX21 Photojournalist Dez Rowe previewed what fairgoers can expect ahead of the holiday weekend.

“So we have more than $250,000 in free entertainment here on the Colorado State Fairgrounds,” said Andrea Wiesenmeyer, the fair’s general manager.

Visitors can enjoy a variety of free attractions like the Swifty Swine pig races, the All-American High Dive show, an inflatable Corn Maze, and don’t miss the Great American Petting Farm!

Look out for unique strolling acts like the punny ‘Plant Guy.’

“I just transplanted here from Florida,” The Plant Guy joked. “I’m going to branch out. Actually, I’m looking to become the new branch manager. I hope I didn’t stump you.”

“And last but not least, you’re going to be able to catch the fountains to cool off if it’s a little warm,” said Wiesenmeyer.

On Friday, Aug. 29 only, don’t miss the ‘Five Before Five’ deal, which offers $5 admission and $5 food options until 5 p.m. during the fair.

Other events include the World Slopper Eating Championship on Saturday, Aug. 30, the annual Fiesta Day Celebration on Sunday, Aug. 31, and Monday, Sept. 1 is Sensory Day at the Colorado State Fair.

“Fair officials are partnering with the Autism Society of Colorado and Pueblo Pediatric Therapy Center to make the fair an inclusive environment by lowering the stimuli across the fairgrounds from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. [on Monday],” according to a press release from the Colorado Department of Agriculture.

Tickets for the fair are available online, by phone at 1-800-514-3849, or at the box office. Adult tickets are $15, children’s tickets (ages 5 – 12) are $7, and kids under five get in free.
