(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The 49th Annual Colorado Springs Labor Day Lift Off begins this Saturday, Aug. 30, offering three days of hot air balloons, live music, and unique entertainment like drone and sky diving shows.
Weather permitting, approximately 70 hot air balloons will launch early Saturday morning, marking the start of the event that runs through Monday, Sept. 1. It includes daily 7 a.m. lift-offs and balloon glows at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

It’s the perfect balance between peacefulness and adventure,” said Andrew Brindley, a hot air balloon pilot. “We are flying a nine-story-tall building in most cases, and it creates a lot of smiles and people stop and look and they wave, and everywhere we go, it creates these unforgettable lifetime bucket list memories for a whole lot of people.”
Pilots encourage people who are comfortable with balloons landing in their yard to lay out a white sheet in the grass as a friendly signal, since balloons cannot steer like airplanes.
