(COLORADO SPRINGS) — Road closures for the Pikes Peak Regional Air Show start on Thursday, Aug. 15, and the Colorado Springs Airport (COS Airport) is giving travelers advice to avoid being impacted by traffic delays and missing their flights.
The Air Show featuring the U.S. Navy Blue Angels and other aircraft including an F-22 and C-130 presentation kicks off the weekend of Saturday, Aug. 17 with closures impacting traffic beginning on Aug. 15 due to practice.
Powers Boulevard will be closed from Milton E. Proby Parkway to Fontaine Boulevard for performers’ safety on Thursday, Aug. 15 from 2 p.m. to 4:45 p.m., and from Friday, Aug. 16 through Sunday, Aug. 18 from 1 p.m. to 3:45 p.m.
During this time, the airport will remain open and operational, but it is asking travelers to consider the circumstances and make some changes to make their flight on time.
COS Airport is suggesting and encouraging travelers to arrive at least two hours before their flight is scheduled to depart. Event traffic will impact travel time to the airport.
For easier access to the terminal building, COS Airport said they encourage travelers to take the left-hand lane on Milton E. Proby Pkwy. for easier access to the terminal building.
