Community leaders discuss safety at Citadel Mall

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The City of Colorado Springs and community leaders have been meeting extensively this week with Namdar Realty Group, owners of the Citadel Mall, to collaborate in assessing ongoing safety concerns and possible solutions for the future of the mall.

On Thursday, Aug. 15 at 4:30 p.m. City and community leaders along with Namdar Realty will be sharing more information about the meetings at a press conference.

“The Citadel Mall plays an important role in this community, and we are grateful for the opportunity to work alongside city and community leaders in laying the foundation for its future,” said Kevin Chadrijan, Asset Manager at Namdar Realty.

The City said along with meetings, Namdar Realty participated in a crime prevention assessment with the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD).

“We recognize this is a complex, ongoing issue,” said Jessie Kimber, the City’s Economic Development Officer. “That is why we have rallied a community-driven effort to help mall leaders work to create a place where all residents feel safe and welcome. It is our hope that this effort brings forward solutions that lead to an improved, safer, economically prosperous, and vibrant area of Colorado Springs.”
