(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Colorado Springs Fire Department (CSFD) reported that it is actively responding to a situation at the Pikes Peak Airshow where over 40 people were experiencing heat-related illness on Saturday, Aug. 17, leading to three being transported to the hospital.
According to CSFD, as of 3:45 p.m., crews were working to move affected people indoors to cool off from the heat and to monitor their health. Operations teams at the airshow are working with the fire department to take necessary precautions and ensure everyone’s safety.
CSFD said that the large number of people needing assistance has required extra resources to ensure everyone receives the necessary care.
The Colorado Springs Regional Airshow Facebook page posted a reminder to attendees to stay hydrated during the hot weather and to take advantage of the free water station at the center of the grounds near the medical station.
