CSFD responds to grass fire near Lower Gold Camp Road

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Colorado Springs Fire Department (CSFD) reported that crews responded to the scene of a grass fire near Lower Gold Camp Road and 26th Street as of 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 27 which has since been knocked down.

According to CSFD, crews were working a slow-moving, 20′ by 20′ area of scrub oak fire, and that smoke may be visible. As of 11:10 a.m., CSFD reported that the majority of the fire had been knocked down and that crews were mopping up and looking for hotspots.

CSFD reported at around 11:45 a.m. that the final size of the fire was about 50′ by 50′ and that fire crews would be clearing it for the next hour. According to CSFD, the cause of the fire is under investigation.
