CSP: Double fatal crash in Pueblo West

(PUEBLO WEST, Colo.) — Two people died after an overnight crash in Pueblo West on Thursday, July 10, according to the Colorado State Patrol (CSP).

CSP said just before 2 a.m. on Thursday, a 2018 Audi sedan was speeding south on South McCulloch Boulevard approaching West Idaho Springs Drive when the driver crashed trying to make a left turn.

Troopers said the driver hit the brakes and tried steering left, causing the car to rotate before it hit an electrical box, a bench, and a trash can before rolling over. CSP said the car rolled several times, and three out of four people inside the car were ejected, including the driver.

Troopers said the driver and one passenger died on the scene, and the other two people were taken to the hospital for treatment of moderate to serious injuries.

“Excessive speed and intoxication are being investigated as possible contributing factors,” CSP wrote. Troopers ask that if anyone was in the area or witnessed the crash, to please contact CSP dispatch at (719) 544-2424 and reference CSP case number VC250228.
