CSP: Six DUI arrests over two day enforcement period

(SOUTHERN COLORADO) — The Colorado State Patrol (CSP) released the results of a recent enforcement period that happened between May 10 and May 12 in Pueblo and Fremont Counties.

According to CSP, during the enforcement period, CSP focused on Pueblo and Fremont Counties as both combined had 62 fatal crashes and 168 crashes where serious bodily injury occurred in the last five years, with most incidents happening on Monday and Saturday afternoons.

CSP said the leading cause of these crashes was impaired driving.

During the enforcement period, CSP said troopers conducted 71 contacts and made:

Six DUI arrests with one being a Felony DUI arrest and another resulting in DUI with child abuse charges

Six seatbelt citations

One previous offender

One stop that ended in a foot chase

CSP said when troopers who specialize in and are looking for DUI arrests can produce 71 stops and make six arrests, CSP considers this to be very positive.

“People are learning to drink responsibly.  The Colorado State Patrol will continue to strictly enforce impaired driving laws and drive down the senseless loss of life on Colorado Roadways.” writes CSP.
