(MANITOU SPRINGS, Colo.) — The Manitou Springs Police Department (MSPD) is hosting an open house for the community to tour its newly remodeled station on Wednesday, May 22 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
The remodel began in January 2024 and took only five months to complete. Upgrades include an updated public lobby and front counter, increased American Disabilities Act (ADA) accessibility, a better layout for increased office space, updated holding cells and evidence lockers to national standards, and increased access security.
Grants from the Colorado Department of Local Affairs totaling $374,831 and funds from the 2024 City Council budget helped cover the $867,555 renovations, which came in $7,000 under budget.
“The Police Department is extremely excited to share our new space with the
community,” said MSPD Chief Bill Otto. “Thanks to City Council and DOLA for investing
in our operations to continue providing a high level of service to our community.”
MSPD is encouraging the community to attend the open house and have the opportunity to see the new upgrades and enjoy light refreshments, as well as meet members of the Police Department and discuss current and future community needs. The MSPD station is located at 606 Manitou Avenue.
