(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) and the Colorado Springs Fire Department reported a hazmat incident near Nevada on Monday, Aug. 26.
CSPD and CSFD are both currently on the scene of a Hazmat incident in the 5200 block of North Nevada Avenue off of I-25 near the University Village Shopping Center. CSFD says there was a malfunction in a 550-gallon liquid nitrogen tank.
At around 11:45 a.m., CSFD said via X (formerly known as Twitter), that the leak had been mitigated.
CSPD says Nevada is open, but is asking individuals to avoid the strip mall near the location. Fire and police crews will clear the area within the next hour.
FOX21 will update this story as more information becomes available.
