(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) said police have arrested a suspect in a sexual assault case at Quail Lake Park on Tuesday, July 8.
According to CSPD, on Tuesday at around 1 a.m., police were called to Quail Lake Park about a reported kidnapping. Police conducted an investigation and found the victim, who told police she had been taken by an unknown man, forced into his pickup truck, and sexually assaulted.
The CSPD Metro Crime Lab was able to quickly process evidence and develop a DNA profile of the suspect. Police said a search of various databases did not result in a match of any known person.
Detectives in the CSPD Real Time Crime Center were able to locate a vehicle that matched the description of the suspect vehicle. Further investigation revealed the suspect vehicle belonged to someone with ties to Fort Carson.
CSPD, working closely with Fort Carson Army Criminal Investigation Division, contacted 19-year-old Caden Meade, who was arrested and facing charges of First-Degree Kidnapping, Sexual Assault, and Felony Menacing.
