CSPD: Colorado BATTLE team shuts down robbers

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) has confirmed four arrests from an interagency car-theft operation over the past week with the help of the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office (EPSO) and the Colorado State Patrol (CSP).

On Thursday, Oct. 2, CSPD responded to the theft of a blue, 2006 Jeep Liberty in the 500 Block of South Nevada Avenue, near Downtown. The investigation into the robbery picked back up on Oct. 6, when CSPD, EPSO, and CSP launched a Beat Auto Theft Through Law Enforcement (BATTLE) investigation.

A detective with CSPD’s Motor Vehicle Theft Unit spotted the stolen Jeep by the intersection of East Platte Avenue and North Murray Boulevard. With this information, BATTLE surveillance units were able to find the Jeep and follow it to the 3900 Block of East San Miguel Street, just off of South Academy Boulevard.

According to CSPD, when interagency tactical units responded to the area, they found and arrested four people in connection with the robbery. The four arrested were 37-year-old Travis Butler, 38-year-old Brittany Flores, 35-year-old Tervon Harvey, and 45-year-old Andre Burns.

CSPD reported that Butler was charged with Robbery, Motor Vehicle Theft, and Possession of a Weapon by a Previous Offender. Flores was charged with Robbery and Motor Vehicle Theft, while Harvey was charged with Robbery, Motor Vehicle Theft, and Felony Possession of Fentanyl. Burns was arrested for an outstanding arrest warrant.

According to CSPD’s official report, officers found several items of evidence during the arrest, including a 9mm semi-automatic handgun.
