(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) reported that officers responded to a crash at East Bijou Street and I-25 early Saturday morning, May 31, that damaged the traffic lights at the intersection, causing an outage.

According to CSPD, the incident, which occurred around 2 a.m. on Saturday, was a single-car crash involving one driver who ran from the scene when officers arrived.

CSPD reported that officers caught the man, later identified as 39-year-old Jose Rodriguez, who they believed may have been under the influence of alcohol at the time. Rodriguez was arrested for traffic-related offenses, served a court summons, and was released.

According to CSPD, a traffic light at the intersection was damaged and was out of service, and the through lane from the northbound off-ramp of I-25 was closed as repairs were being made.
