(COLORADO SPRINGS) — A “transient” man was arrested on an unrelated warrant after police responded to reports that he allegedly attempted to kidnap a three-to-four-year-old boy on Friday, May 30, according to the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD).
CSPD reported that around 11:30 a.m. on Friday, officers responded to the 200 block of Mesa Road in Monument Valley Park after receiving reports that a man in his 30s had attempted to kidnap the little boy. The suspect was described as a Hispanic man with a medium build, wearing a black shirt and pants. Officers learned that the parents had already taken their child and left.
According to CSPD, officers found a man, later identified as 25-year-old Sergio Leon, who matched the description of the suspect. Officers detained him and then arrested him after finding out he had an outstanding felony warrant.
CSPD stated that there was not enough evidence to make an arrest for kidnapping at that time and it appears to be an isolated incident.
