(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) said detectives have reason to believe that there may be additional victims of a suspect in a sexual assault investigation and are asking the community to contact the police if they, or somebody they know, has been a victim.
According to CSPD, on April 15, 2025, detectives with the Crimes Against Children Unit began the investigation into 66-year-old Matthew Gogan, who was formerly employed as a teacher at Stratton Meadows Elementary School in Colorado Springs.

CSPD said the victim reported information about a sexual assault from five years ago, and as the investigation continued, detectives also “…contacted another victim who had previously reported Mr. Gogan’s behavior.” On June 12, Gogan was arrested and now faces two counts of Sexual Assault on a Child by One in a Position of Trust.
“At this time in the investigation, detectives have reason to believe there may be additional victims of Mr. Gogan,” CSPD wrote.
Detectives said, if you, or someone you know, has been a victim of Gogan, to contact CSPD at (719) 444-7000 or the Pikes Peak Area Crimes Stoppers at (719) 634-STOP (7867).
