CSPD: Man points realistic-looking BB gun at officer

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — A man called the police with a fake burglary call and aimed a realistic-looking firearm at an officer on Thursday, Feb. 22, according to the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD).

CSPD said on Thursday, a little before 7 p.m. officers were called about a burglary in progress at a home in the 2800 block of Hayman Terrace south of Pikes Peak Avenue and South Circle Drive. When the officer arrived, the caller invited him into the home.

The man identified as 35-year-old David Bewall then aimed a weapon at the officer. The officer was able to take Bewall into custody without further incident. The weapon was found to be a realistic-looking BB handgun.

Bewall was arrested for charges of Felony Menacing and the reported burglary was unfounded.
