CSPD: Man shoots gun in home after domestic disturbance call

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) said a man was arrested after a domestic disturbance call led to a shot being fired inside a home.

Officers responded to a report of a domestic disturbance call on the 4900 block of Turquoise Circle near Austin Bluffs Parkway. Initial reports were of a man, later identified as 37-year-old Leonel Ramirez, allegedly had threatened a woman with a knife.

Just before 1 a.m., CSPD said as officers were outside with the woman Ramirez fired a single gunshot inside the home. No one was hit by the gunfire, and a containment was set up on the residence.

Ramirez refused to exit the home after CSPD contacted him multiple times via telephone. CSPD’s Tactical Enforcement Unit responded, and officers obtained a search warrant and an arrest warrant.

Ramirez exited the home after several hours and was taken into custody on charges from the domestic violence incident, according to CSPD.
