(COLORADO SPRINGS) — A recent execution of a search warrant resulted in the recovery of two stolen vehicles and a stolen handgun on Thursday, May 22, according to the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD).
CSPD said on Thursday afternoon, investigators with CSPD’s Metro Burglary Unit executed a search warrant in the 4100 block of Goldenrod Drive near Austin Bluffs Parkway and North Academy Boulevard.
Earlier in the week, Burglary Unit detectives’ investigation discovered that a minor offender who had been previously arrested for burglary and motor vehicle theft was allegedly again in possession of a stolen vehicle. The information was corroborated, and additional investigation revealed that the minor and another minor with a documented criminal record had at least one handgun.
CSPD said the search warrant and related investigation resulted in the arrest of two minors for charges related to motor vehicle theft, and the arrest of a man for an unrelated warrant. Police also recovered two stolen vehicles and a stolen handgun.
According to CSPD, one of the minors arrested was awaiting judgment on a number of criminal cases. According to police, the offender’s criminal cases stemmed from a string of vehicle thefts and vape store burglaries in 2024:
Arrested on Nov. 19, 2024, for multiple charges of motor vehicle theft, released immediately
Arrested on Dec. 10, 2024, for burglary and motor vehicle theft, released on Dec. 13 on a personal recognizance bond to family
Arrested on Feb. 5, 2025, for burglary and motor vehicle theft, released on April 6 on a PR bond to family.
