CSPD notifies community of sexual predator

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Colorado Springs Police Department notified the community of a sexual predator who has now moved into a homeless location and has not registered as a sex offender.

Rosendo Garza, 62, is registered at 25 West Las Vegas Street in Colorado Springs. Garza’s past behavior has led him to be labeled a “Sexually Violent Predator” (SVP) by the state of Colorado.

In 2001, Garza was convicted of Attempted Sexual Assault on a Child in El Paso County. He was also convicted in 2007 for Failing to Register as a Sex Offender, and Garza has other convictions in Texas for Theft, Assault, Burglary, and DUI.

Garza is described as a 62-year-old Hispanic man who weighs 160 pounds and stands at 5’4”. He has brown hair and brown eyes.

CSPD said it will make “all reasonable efforts to ensure that Garza registers as a sex offender and understands his responsibilities as such.”

Currently, Garza is one of 19 SVPs registered with CSPD who reside in this community. The police department is required by law to make a community notification.

“The Colorado Springs Police Department takes his presence in our community very seriously and is intent on ensuring he conducts himself in a lawful manner and that our citizens remain safe and aware,” said CSPD.
