(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) has arrested a man after responding to a domestic violence situation on Monday, Nov. 3.
A little before 3:30 a.m. on Monday, officers with CSPD’s Sand Creek division were sent to the 100 block of Quivira Drive, near the intersection of South Circle Drive and East Fountain Boulevard, on a domestic violence call for service.
According to CSPD, when they arrived, officers heard an active disturbance, leading them to force their way into the home. Once inside, CSPD made their way into the basement, where they found a woman and a suspect, later identified as 32-year-old Donte Mayo, sitting behind her.
According to CSPD, responding officers gave Mayo multiple commands, but he was uncooperative. CSPD states that as Mayo was taken into a marked police cruiser, police could make out a strong scent of gunpowder on him, as well as a 10mm Glock pistol and a live 10mm round next to the couch where Mayo and the victim were sitting.
According to CSPD’s report, officers were not able to find where Mayo allegedly fired the pistol, but they did still arrest him.
